About Me

dscn1303HI, I’M ANDRANI

What kind of a name is “Incoherent Musings” for a blog you ask?

Jumbled Thoughts. . .

I guess, like most of us, my thoughts can be unclear. Writing them down and see them in front of my face that they begin to make sense. As an introvert, I have always been able to express myself best in writing.

In my blog I seek to share with you some of the thoughts that run through my mind on my adventures and throughout my writing career in school and at home. I believe one’s writing career begins not at the moment we’re hired, but the moment when we starts to write–be it in school or in our spare time–because when we write we’re strengthening our skills and gaining experience whether we’re getting paid for it or not.

I’m an english lit major but I love history. Historical fiction is my forte. It’s the perfect combination of history and literature.

I grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Home of the. . . Mets?? (I’m not the biggest sports fan). Brooklyn is usually associated with gangsters, rappers, and pizza. It’s home to Grimaldi’s Pizza which is a landmark in DUMBO Brooklyn. It’s one of the oldest and tastiest pizza shops. So if you want some real italian style pizza go here. Be sure to call ahead to order because you’ll be waiting on a long line. But enough about pizza. . .

I’ve traveled a bit since I was a child, visiting various places in the United States and abroad. I would  get bored quickly and needed a change of scenery. Traveling seemed to be the perfect solution for me. I get to see, smell, and taste different things. As I grew up, I did some modeling and currently sing with my musician husband from time to time. Modeling and music also provided me with the perfect opportunities to travel and experience the world (and the food, especially the food).

So I graduated Cum Laude with a degree in English Literature in 2012 from Long Island University in Brooklyn. Yipee! Right?. .

Like most students who are fed a piped dream, I soon discovered that I needed a lot more qualifications and experience to be a writer, editor, or teacher. All I could really get into were temporary jobs, nothing career centered. I floated around from job to job until just earlier this year, when I landed a job as a customer service agent for Optimum, an internet and cable and phone company. However, the monotony of an office job didn’t seem like the right fit for me. I also had my first baby on the way.

Music today is great but you have to do it for the love of it. The advent of social media and digital downloads has done more harm for the music industry than good. Unless you’re one of the lucky few to become highly successful, there is little chance of earning a living or maintaining a steady income from it. So at the moment, I’m a stay at home mom, looking for ways in which I can take control of my destiny and write about things that interest me. I have always loved to write so writing seems like a venture I’m excited to undertake. Only time will tell where it leads.

It’s my hope that reading my blog posts will motivate you to take risks and to keep going when things don’t go your way.  In every success story, there is always a struggle. Remember that there is always a way around an obstacle. If we focus on finding it, things will begin to go in our favor.
